I have now been displaced since the 28th. No one talks about downtown Manhattan still being dysfunctional. The last couple of weeks were less about sheer terror and more about trying to function into some kind of routine. Trying to build a new normal. My home and atelier where I live and work are still not habitable. This has seriously affected my business. So, I started freelancing as a make up artist for a few prestigious cosmetic companies. I now sell $400.00 face creams, while I am still technically homeless and many people are still without electric. For some reason downtown Manhattan has been forgotten.

– I walk from the east village to 5th avenue in the 50’s to get to work.

– I walk home from work on the days it is not snowing or raining.

– I walk everywhere because its easier than dealing with the overcrowding and delays on the trains.

– I shiver the fat off all night because the heat where I was sleeping still was not working properly.

– Who needs a stair machine when you can live on the top floor of a walk up!

– I lug two suitcases and two bags down nine flights of stairs by myself in order to migrate to the next sofa on my schedule. FEMA offered me a hotel in Queens or Albany but how do I get to work. The woman from North Carolina didn’t realize that that was inconvenient. She has never been to New York.

Diet still consisted of nuts, protein bars and slightly too salty, but cheep and comforting Ramen noodles, vegetable and chicken soup, extra spicy. (The spice counts as a thermogenic right?)

Appreciate water for hydration like never before!

At my new temporary lodging there is a scale. So I finally got to see, indeed I have lost a couple of pounds! There is a silver lining to every thing!
